Research has shown that whiteflies, leafminers, sciarids, aphids and many other flying insects are attracted by the colour yellow. Thrips on the other hand are attracted to the blue traps.
This property is harnessed in the deployment of the sticky traps. At the beginning of cultivation, the traps are hung up amongst the crop. As all kinds of flying insects are attracted by the coloured traps and stick to them, the sticky traps provide a simple, but effective monitoring system.
The Biobest sticky traps are 25 cm long by 10 cm wide. They are made of durable recyclable plastic with a long-lasting adhesive on each side. This glue is non-toxic, water-repellent and does not dry out in a hot climate while the trap itself is not deformed by extremes of temperature or humidity.
